In fall of 2007, the NC Legislature appropriated $500,000 one-time and $131,000 recurring funding to support NC Community College System VCL pilots.

January 2008 Wake Tech Community College became the first NC Community College VCL pilot with 16 courses and several hundred students.

Future NC Community College pilots will include additional Community Colleges for Fall 2008.
